Traditional Marriage (TM), Ibo tribe, Ezeagu L.G.A., Enugu State. Nne-Mentor 2022

It all started with an engagement ring when I said yes to the love of my life. Then, the first visit of my In-laws to know and see my parents followed, after which came the introduction.

On the introduction day, my immediate family invited our extended family and a few friends over to our home. My father in-law and brother in-law-to-be also came in the company of two other ladies. I was asked by my family if they sould accept the drinks that the in-laws came with and I said “yes”!. Everyone was happy, they ate and drank. The list of my kingsmen was given to them to provide some items for the traditional marriage.

The groom and his family provided all the items on the list. The dowry payment was also done, where my family and the groom’s family had to debate on the amount to pay before taking me, their daughter, with them as wife.

I had three outfits for my Traditional Marriage; the first was one to greet and welcome our visitors, the second was an outfit for selling of eggs, which indicates that I’ll be industrious, while the third was one to use in searching for the groom, which is the most important, the traditional marriage proper.

There was a lot of eating, drinking and dancing!

Thank God it was a successful event.
And thanks to my hubby for being understanding.
Thanks to family and friends who made the occasion a lovely one.
