WAYS TO BOND DAILY WITH YOUR PARTNER OR SPOUSE

By Dr Cheryl Udomessien Posted on June 30, 2020November 8, 2020 32 Comments 5 min read 7701 views

Being a huge fan of mushy mushy, I love the idea of enjoying my husband’s company and I always look forward to him being around me and us doing things that can help us bond better. In this post, I have suggests ways by which you can bond daily with your partner or spouse

Things like planning a journey together, actualizing the plan by going on a vacation or business trip, taking rides to nearby neighbourhoods, having meals outside our home, shopping together or even nesting (when we were expecting our baby) are things we enjoy doing and they have their unique ways of bringing us close but sadly these things are done mainly occasionally.

Here are 5 outlined things that you and your spouse can do together on a daily basis to spark up your relationship and help achieve best results when it comes to bonding.

1. Praying together

You have probably heard the popular saying, “a family that prays together stays together”.
Isn’t it practical that when you pray together, you agree on the same things? This act not only gives you the opportunity to becoming one daily, it also strengthens your spiritual bond and gives you peace. That in itself is a whole lot of advantage for you.
Practically, I have found myself loving my husband more by the prayer points he raises. I believe he feels the same way also. The feeling of knowing that your partner cares about you and vice versa has a way of strengthening the love you share. It is a guarantee that when couples pray together daily, their bonds become stronger! What an easy way to bond daily indeed!

2. Physical intimacy

Sex is such a beautiful thing and a gift from God. It is the glue that binds your spouse to you and literally makes the both of you one physically and definitely spiritually as well.
I learnt something from my friend turned sister, Marina, she taught me that “sex even if you don’t ‘feel’ like it helps couples to connect on an emotional and physical level”. She also added that there are other benefits to it, such as reducing blood pressure and  stress.
Make out and have sex as often as you both agree. What in this world is more binding than sex?

3. Playing games together

This includes online games and physical games (offline games 😂😂😂). What games interests you as a couple? There are PlayStation games, card games, board games, etc.
Bear in mind that some people do not take loses lightly, so if your partner or spouse is such a person, I’ll recommend not going for games.
Personally, I enjoy playing a scrabble-like game called Words With Friends with my husband. It helps me learn new words and for him, he’s just happy winning me but I don’t mind. We laugh together, and anticipate each other’s moves. I’ve noticed that it helps kill boredom and also helps us to bond well.

4. Going for a walk

A stroll around your home can form a great avenue to walk, observe, think and share with each other. Another advantage of having a walk is clearly that you are exercising in the process and that will promote good health in return.

5. Pillow talks

An earlier bed time than usual can be a good opportunity to just chat in bed. There are a lot of important things going on around the world today and even silly things to chat about for example, your neighbour’s dog that continually barks, a word you pronounced wrongly… Anything really! Talk and talk, get to know each other better. Laugh hysterically if you want to, just keep talking. Lying naked together at this point won’t be a bad idea. Thank me later😉

Here are 3 bonus points!

6. Showering together

This can be done daily if you wish, I do it occasionally with my husband, sometimes because we are just in the mood to play and other times because we are running late and would want to quickly get ready to go out. Either way, taking a shower together can be quite romantic and can help you bond in a funny and an interesting way.

7. At least a date night every week

Is that even practical? Anyway, you get the point (and that’s why it’s a “bonus point”😉).
This could be to a decent or manageable restaurant to save you the stress of always having to cook (that’s if you are like me 😜😂).

A second option could be that you prepare something romantic for home, dash your children (if you have any) to your parent(s) (or a sitter) and then have a whole night to yourselves. You do not have to go to a restaurant.

A date night could also be to the cinema, or any other thing that defines a date to you.
Even if it can’t be done every week, every two weeks or every month is still fine. The aim is to promote togetherness, to do something different, outside the ordinary.

Wow! I have just realised that this is the only point that could possibly involve some amount of “money”. Interestingly, it seems like indeed, the most important things in life are free 😇

8. Doing something unplanned

Speaking about “doing something unplanned”, I was working on this very blog post when all of a sudden we (me, my husband, our 2+ months old son 😉😀 and a sister) started singing Efik/Ibibio songs, praising God! My husband likes to record our son at every given opportunity. I am glad we caught this point on video. Here’s a short clip, Enjoy!!

Our lovely son praising God with us 😇

I wish you the very best as you bond daily with your spouse ❤️

I’d like to emphasize that sex and other forms of physical intimacy are reserved only for married couples. That’s how God designed it to be.

Every relationship is unique! there’s indeed no formula hence the need to figure things out and work out your own relationship.

P.S. Just one word, phrase, clause or sentence can bring the positive change that you need. Find it here @gloryinyou⭐😇
