YOU CAN’T PLEASE EVERYONE!!!

By Usen James Posted on October 11, 2020November 8, 2020 5 Comments 3 min read 6734 views

Settle with this fact, and learn to embrace the consequences of your decision. One of the most draining things to do in your adult life is trying to please everyone.

Living to please people, in most cases, puts you up for a stretch beyond your principles and value system.

You might have to step out of who you are – if you’ve defined yourself.

You might have to spend your time on things that you’d rather not do, just because “no” is a much heavier word for your lips to tell.

You will lose yourself chasing after the pleasures of others. Everyone else will feel settled and fulfilled at the end, well, except you! You’ll always meet the terrible feeling of emptiness and purposelessness whenever you’re done giving yourself away (to fellow humans).

Know that…

If you lay down your purity of heart because you want to fit into a clique, you’re the loser. For the sake of being nice, you’ve let go of a treasure.

You can’t subscribe to being vulgar because you’ve found yourself among a population that celebrate being that way, you’re the loser; and you’re losing some very valuable pieces of you.

Don’t indulge in sin just so you can please some people. You shouldn’t go drunk on hard liquor, or become sexually immoral because you’re trying not to be odd in a sect. Be you, and unapologetically so. Don’t depict an unstable character, be firm on your values. Hold tight to your Spirit-inspired principles; even when the greater majority swim in the popular pool of immorality.

Laying down your good morals, refined value systems and godly principles, in a bid to be nice means a huge loss, to you and the Kingdom we represent as Christians. You’ve failed to represent God at a point it mattered the most, if you lay your guards down to be accepted by a people.

Like one who has received salvation and the holy spirit of God, chose your outfit. You can’t be comfortable in compromise, so trash it! Take on your new garment and wear it with an enviable pride. Don’t let go of it for anything: not to gain acceptance, not to keep friends, not to obtain some earthly favours, not for anything. Treasure yourself, and the purity of your heart, that much.

Say no to compromise without a single guilt or regret hitting you as an afterthought. Say it, and mean it.
Love and be kind to fellow men but… don’t try to please everyone!

LESSON: “Living to please people, in most cases, put you up for a stretch beyond your principle and value system”. It is pertinent to set up boundary for oneself to avoid living unsettled and unfulfilled life at the end. Also, to avoid meeting terrible feeling of emptiness and purposelessness whenever you’re done giving yourself away to fellow humans. Thank you Doc, God bless you.

    “You can’t please everyone”
Great article, this mind(saying no to compromise) is so needed if you want to be successful in life.

Thank you for reminding us again.

    This piece is so true.
There was a time in my life that i felt like i needed approval from some certain people in my life for my actions and i realized that the more i tried to please them, the more frustrated i felt. I had to let go of things that i needed just because it didn’t fit into their ‘to-do-list’. It was so exhausting to say the least. Because man as a being always always has needs. His needs are just so insatiable. So if you as a person can’t meet all your needs at the same time, why would you go through the stress of meeting the need-to-be-pleased of a whole bunch of people who are not ‘You’.
    Thank you Usen
