The Value of Family (5)

Another value of the family is that it should be an initiation ground for ministry. You may have never thought of your family as being a ministry team together, but there is nothing more exciting than having a family that serves God as a team. By initiating your children into God, you fire your influence into the future such that long after you are dead and gone, you are still relevant in this world.

Psalm 127:3-5 says “Children are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth.” Children are arrows that are useful in the hand of a godly warrior-parents. Parents’ goal should be to utilize this gift.

What a great value of the family to have a ministry team, to see our family as a future for the Kingdom of God. How do you do it? By teaching and training your children in the way of the Lord. By helping and serving other believers. When your whole family knows the Lord, loves the Lord and serves the Lord, it is a unifying factor and brings great joy.

Joy comes when our family believes in Jesus. Our task as family members should be to do the best we can to make sure our family members know and grow up loving Jesus Christ. That is so important. If you have some in your family that don’t know Jesus as Lord you should be praying constantly for them. It is so important to be assured that your family will be eternally in heaven with you. Be deliberate about getting this assurance of their salvation.

Prayer: Father, I pray that You help my family to work as a team serving You in the Name of Jesus, Amen.
